essentials: maple syrup

3 Feb

A mug of steamed milk, a sprinkle of nutmeg and two teaspoons of maple syrup. It might as well be icecream, it tastes so much like comfort.

  • Maple syrup and pancakes. And bacon. And blueberries.
  • Mixed with lemon juice, salt and oil it makes a sophisticated salad dressing. Add soy sauce and you have a sweet and sour marinade for salmon.
  • Combine with a touch of cream for instant caramel sauce.
  • Pour over hot popcorn, spiced with a little cinnamon and chili powder.

There is nothing maple syrup can’t do. I will stand by that statement.

Maple syrup means home to me (I’m from Vermont). At university, I dream about it, but they only have the plasticky fake kind. Your picture makes me feel better about it though!

Thanks! I bet you have some good pancake recipes if you are from the land of syrup? x
